Ford Fusion History
The Fusion made its debut in the North American market in 2006. The Fusion replaced the long running Taurus in the automaker's lineup. The first Fusion model was available in three trim levels: S, SE, and SEL. Ford added an all-wheel drive option to the Fusion one year later in 2007.
Ford heavily revised the Fusion for the 2010 model year. Exterior changes were implemented along with the introduction of two new models: a 263 horsepower Sport Edition and a gas/electric hybrid version.
In 2013, the second generation of the Fusion was launched into the market. Ford also launched a plug-in hybrid version of the Fusion known as the Energi.
Four years later, Ford made styling updates to the Fusion and increased interior technology options in the midsized sedan.
